Femap is the world’s leading Windows-based engineering simulation tool for finite element analysis (FEA).

Engineers worldwide use Femap to model and simulate everything from simple solid components to entire spacecraft assemblies throughout a broad range of engineering disciplines. From simple linear static analysis right through to advanced solutions based computational fluid dynamics, engineers and analysts use Femap to virtually simulate a complete range of product behavior to reduce costly prototypes and physical testing and before committing to expensive product development plans. This ensures higher product quality, lower development costs, decreased testing overheads and reduced product development time.

Femap is based on an advanced set of open technologies that enable it to work simply and easily within customer engineering simulation environments. Femap is primarily based on Parasolid, which ensures direct access to some 35% of the world’s digital product definition data. In addition, a number of state-of-the-art geometric extensions ensure that Femap is able to work with geometry from virtually any source, directly and seamlessly. Femap also works with an unusually broad range of finite element solver solutions. This makes Femap a very logical and flexible solution that is simply tailored for even the most demanding customer needs.

Femap’s open technologies are also Windows based, making them readily accessible. This not only provides a high degree of familiarity for the majority of users, but it also ensures that Femap brings powerful digital simulation directly to the engineer’s desktop easily and affordably.

Femap with NX Nastran combines two of the world’s most popular and powerful structural analysis programs for simulating product performance characteristics of structures and mechanical components. As such Femap with NX Nastran provides a very cost effective Windows-native CAE solution that combines Femap’s widely used pre- and post-processing capabilities with the well known and respected analysis capabilities of NX Nastran.

Based upon its 15-year history of working closely with Nastran solvers, Femap with NX Nastran seamlessly integrates NX Nastran into the Femap environment, and directly supports a broad range of NX Nastran capabilities, such as linear and non-linear static, normal modes, Eigenvalue, transient/dynamic, frequency/harmonic response, response spectrum, random response and buckling. There are also additional NX Nastran options available for aero-elasticity, super-elements, optimization and DMAP. Femap with NX Nastran also provides a comprehensive range of detailed functionality to directly define and control most aspects of modeling, simulation with NX Nastran and subsequent post processing operations.

A market-leading component of UGS and Velocity Series™, Femap also provides an independent backbone to a number of other well known and industry respected simulation products including Sinda/G from Network Analysis Inc.; NEiNastran Modeler from Noran Engineering Inc.; and MSC.Nastran for Windows from MSC.Software. In particular, Femap's capabilities NEiNastran for Windows and NEiNastran Modeler are due to Femap’s pre- and post-processing expertise together with the Nastran solver solution.

  • Femap, and Femap with NX Nastran: Femap provides comprehensive functionality in an independent environment for modeling, simulation and review of product performance results.
  • Femap Thermal Solver: The Femap Thermal Solver adds state-of-the-art thermal analysis solutions to the Femap environment and provides fast and accurate solutions to complex thermal engineering problems.
  • Femap Advanced Thermal Solver: The Femap Advanced Thermal Solver adds a number of more advanced thermal modeling and simulation capabilities to the Femap Thermal Solver package, including fluid duct modeling, coupled convection and fluid flow analysis.
  • Femap Flow Solver: The Femap Flow Solver adds state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis solutions to the Femap environment and provides fast, efficient and accurate solutions to complex CFD problems.
